Description

Outing Club:

Calling all 6th-10th graders!

Outing Club is for adventurous youth who like to get outdoors, explore and have fun! We will practice wilderness survival tips and outdoor skills, learn about and immerse ourselves in nature and discuss current topics that affect our local environment and recreation opportunities. The group will work together to create and fundraise exciting day-long outings as well as environmental stewardship projects.

Studies have shown, that being outdoors promotes intellectual, physical and social development as well as an overall sense of well-being. So, if you are interested in outdoor adventure, leadership, service and fun -this is the club for you! The club will be responsible to plan all aspects of outings with support from Camp Fire staff, parents, and volunteers.  The Outing Club will also be responsible to plan at least one stewardship project and one fundraising event that goes directly to the club.

The first meeting will be Sunday, February 18th 3:00-4:30pm, in the Hutchinson Room at the downtown public library. If you can't make this meeting, but still want to be part of the club, sign up anyway!  Let us know you won't be there by emailing melanie@campfireco.org and we will contact you for your input on the best times to meet for you.

The club will meet every other Sunday until the beginning of June, alternating with the Teens in Action Club. This club will also meet for outings on other days that are planned and set by the group. Locations will vary, but will generally be in the downtown area.

Sliding Scale:

Many teen programs are offered on a self selecting sliding scale basis.  The full cost to join the Outing Club is $125.  If you would still like to participate, but the cost is a barrier, please choose a reduced rate of $95 or apply for a full scholarship after you pay the non-refundable fee of $30.

Please choose the amount that you can afford so we can continue to offer options for those who can afford less.

Financial Aid:

As a nonprofit organization, Camp Fire is pleased to be able to offer a limited number of partial scholarships based upon financial need thanks to United Way of Deschutes County, the Every Kid Fund, and many generous corporate sponsors, foundations and individual donors. Please complete our simple Financial Assistance Form after you have created a Camp Fire log in and before you register for individual sessions.

You must pay the non-refundable fee at check out.  If you are not approved for a scholarship, you will have the opportunity to choose your price on the sliding scale.  If you choose not to do the program based on denial of financial assistance, your non-refundable fee will be returned to you.
