Kritter Kamp
Description
The Tompkins County 4-H program offers a unique opportunity for youth 9 - 13 years of age with an interest in but little or no experience with animals. "Kritter Kamp" is a 2-day event, usually held over a spring weekend at 4-H Acres in Ithaca. Participants work with an experienced 4-H member to learn new skills, and practice on the animals provided (sheep, dairy calf, poultry, dog or rabbit). The program ends with a show and recognition celebration Saturday evening

Things Learned at Kritter Kamp:
-where your food comes from
-how to care for animals
-information about your chosen species
-what makes your animal special
-the responsibilities of animal ownership
-how to show animals
-the names -- and much more -- about other kids just like you!
-meet professionals working with animals
-discover what animals eat
-how much fun working with animals can be!

What to bring: Participants should bring "grungy" clothes and one other change of clothes, white slacks/shorts (shirts are provided), closed-toed shoes/sneakers or work boots, and brown jersey gloves.
