Whispering Winds, Wrangler-in-Training, July 2-26, Grades 10-12
Description
Ever wanted to work at camp? Get a taste of what it’d be like to become a camp wrangler (a type of counselor with a special focus on horse care and safety) as a Wrangler-in-Training! Over almost four weeks, you’ll spend plenty of time with horses while learning how to be an excellent camp leader—plus, you’ll still get to participate in all the fun camp activities. Your counselors will teach you how to plan and facilitate riding lessons as you build leadership skills by working with campers, staff and horses.
During the second weekend, you’ll return home to rest up, do laundry and get excited for the rest of your session. At the end of your time at camp, you’ll experience WIT “graduation” and celebrate all your accomplishments.
After completing a WIT program, you are eligible to work at overnight camp the following summer! Due to limited space, high demand for WIT programs and a desire to provide the highest quality leadership experience, there is an application process for this session. This session is designed for those who have a love for camp and have demonstrated a strong desire to expand their leadership skills working with children. Applications will be available at girlscoutsosw.org/camp starting December 6th, 2022.
Application reviews and the scheduling of interviews will begin in January. Any applications received after this time will still be reviewed based on available space. Learn what it takes to create camp magic as a Wrangler-in-Training!
