Session 3, Whispering Winds, Horse Camp, July 16-21, Grades 7-12
Description
Spend time with and learn about horses every day at camp! Girls spend one hour each full day of camp horseback riding (weather permitting). Large group rides occur in the arena, while small group rides occur in round pens. Groups also ride around the horse country barn and on the trails. Camp staff remain next to riders at all times to help teach them about horses and riding.

Girls also participate in ground lessons covering types of horses, how to interact with horses, riding styles, tack, safety and awareness, equestrian grooming and care and the history of western riding. These “classroom” sessions take place in different places depending on the lesson, including the horse country covered pavilion or in or nearby the tack shed.

Progression is the focus throughout Horse Camp. Girls of all experience levels are welcome. More experienced riders will try faster gaits and more advanced lessons, however all girls will develop new skills and take on new challenges.

Girls will also participate in traditional camp activities like canoeing, swimming, art projects, campfires and, if entering grades 4 and above, archery and mountain biking. Girls plan additional activities as a group, such as choosing a place on camp for an overnight under the stars. Learn all about our beautiful horses as you create friendships with other horse-loving girls at Horse Camp!
