Session 7, Arrowhead, Canoe Crew, August 11-16, Grades 7-12
Description
Spend each day honing your paddling skills and canoe safety knowledge, culminating in an overnight canoe trip in the Columbia River Gorge! You’ll learn basic canoeing safety, paddle strokes, terminology used in the sport, discover maneuvering techniques, how to self-rescue if you fall out or your canoe tips, and how to handle wind conditions. Then you’ll test your skills at an off-camp lake and discuss how to plan and prepare for a wilderness canoe trip. Finally, you’ll put everything you learned to the test with an overnight canoeing excursion! Combine camping and canoeing for an unforgettable day experience with new friends and skilled camp staff.

During your time off the water, you’ll get to participate in all of the other traditional summer camp activities, including archery, swimming, art projects, all-camp campfire and the climbing wall.
