Girls in the Woods, June 26-30, Willamette National Forest
Join us for Girls in the Woods 2023 as we dive into Outdoor Career Exploration. Spend five days and four nights with the Willamette National Forest Service staff, learning about careers from wildlife biologist, archaeologist and other outdoor oriented careers. Girls will sleep outside in tents provided by the Girl Scouts, while also taking off-camp trips like boating at Clear Lake!

At this camp you will meet foresters, botanists, archeologists, fisheries biologists, wildlife biologists, recreation specialists and others who have careers working outdoors. The employees of the Willamette National Forest have planned a week of fun and interesting things for you to do, including visiting and learning about the activities they do to manage the many ecosystems of the forest. For some advanced campers this will include a 2-night backpacking trip in the Three Sisters Wilderness! The rest of us will camp in the meadow at Fish Lake with field trips to activities at various sites. Girls will learn about and participate in habitat restoration, camp cooking, outdoor art, and conduct a bioblitz. Thursday we will all go boating on Clear Lake and learn about the unique geology of the lake. That night we will have a feast and host archeologists to teach about indigenous people. This experience is for girls who are entering 7th grade through 11th grade.
