Description
Summer Courses for Credit General Information

Summer Courses for Credit are restricted to CHCA students enrolled for the following school year. Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis and opens on 01/27/24.

At registration, you will schedule a future automatic payment for the full amount. Payment is non-refundable and non-transferable after 02/17/24 at 12:00 p.m. Payments collected on 02/23/24. If a class is cancelled due to low enrollment, the scheduled payment will be cancelled before any fees are collected. If the cancellation impacts your student’s 2024-2025 course selections, you may contact us at that time for adjustments to their schedule.

Email the teacher directly if you have questions about the course content, workload, or syllabus. No classes are held on weekends.

Because summer course schedules are condensed and academic content is uncompromised, attendance is strictly enforced, and a student cannot pass a class for which he/she is not present for the stated meeting times. Please do not register for summer classes that conflict with the student’s other summer obligations.

In this online, self-paced course, students study a variety of health topics to encourage useful decisions from a Christian perspective about personal, community, and global health issues. Topics include: Mental health (building and maintaining self-esteem, taking personal responsibility, understanding personal and emotional needs, examining personality components and some disorders, strategies to cope with stress, setting goals, managing time); Physical health (responsible food choices, the body’s need for nutrients, health and diet, weight control and eating disorders, substance use and abuse, including the dangers of opioid abuse); Social health (a child’s relationship with parents, development of friendships, puberty, dating relationships, sexually transmitted diseases, abstinence, the marriage relationship). Students work independently with online resources while the teacher is available at school to monitor student progress, clarify instruction, and assist with assessments and instructional elements. Online version available, indicate interest on Course Optioning Survey.
