Learn the FUNdamentals of sailing on this ever-popular boat. Anyone and everyone will love learning to sail on a small, manageable boat that holds two youth. Learn the very basics of sailing, various parts of the boat, steering, use of sails and the best part- how to right a capsized boat. The instructors will hop on and off the boats throughout each sailing session. The week is filled with learning activities and games on and off of the water teaching not just sailing skills but confidence, teamwork and self reliance. It is truly amazing what is learned in one week.

Perfect for a first-time sailor or for children with limited sailing experience.

Typically, children need 2-3 weeks in basic level before they are ready to move on to intermediate sailing. Optimally, campers receive their skipper rating on sunfish. BUT, please note this takes time, sometimes 3-4 weeks or more of sunfish camp to get a skipper rating. A great way to accomplish this is to take a week or two of sunfish camp, then take a week or two of flying scot camp and then come back to sunfish and let those skills you learned be applied and practiced. A skipper rating means you are ready and able to completely sail this boat on your own without instructor guiding you. You also need to be able to self -rescue, right a capsized boat independently.

Minimum age 9 years old- 8 years may join after completing one week of Mini Mates

Please note: All youth start at this level regardless of their age. Campers will be grouped according to age ranges to make sure they are sailing with age-appropriate peers. Campers who join Sunfish for multiple weeks will be grouped accordingly as their skills progress.

Camp meets Monday through Friday 9:30 AM - 4:00 PM. No camp July 4th
