Ultimate Frisbee
Description
FCS’ long standing ultimate frisbee team, Team Spicy, is gearing up for another fun-filled season and open to new players interested in learning about this action packed team sport. Ultimate Frisbee is coached by 5/6 LA teacher and former national-level team player Holly Stephens and 7/8 LA teacher Mira Willson, a former captain of her collegiate team at St. Mary's. Ultimate is open to all students grades 5-8. No previous experience necessary.
What is ultimate? Think non-contact frisbee football, except you can’t run with the disc! Ultimate combines throwing, catching, exercise, teamwork, and conflict-resolution through Spirit of the Game, a self-officiating tradition emphasizing fair play, mutual respect, and joy—values that align with our Quaker testimonies of integrity and community. No experience necessary; players of all athletic abilities are welcome!
Practices are divided into 2–3 groups by age and/or experience. Team Spicy participates in games, round-robins, and tournaments, including events designed for younger and newer players. Tournaments are Saturdays or Sundays in Silver Spring, Fairfax, and Falls Church. Game participation is optional, and rosters may favor older/more experienced players when competing against area middle-school teams.

In case of inclement weather, practices may be made up when possible or canceled
