LEGO Robotics Math Workshop
Description
Join USM STEM Outreach for a special (free!) math-focused LEGO robotics workshop!

Friday, February 20th, 2026

3:30pm - 7:00pm

USM-Portland Campus, Science Building

Ages 10-12, no experience required.

Free!

USM STEM Outreach LEGO Robotics workshops are a fantastic opportunity to dive into the world of robotics and programming! This session is for beginner LEGO Roboteers. Explore robotics concepts using the LEGO robotics platform. Participants use "Scratch"-style block coding to guide their LEGO robots through 3 different math-focused missions.

After assembling a basic bot & quick overview of the programming language, students will:

  • Learn how to calculate a robot wheel circumference, and use the information in their code

  • Observe the relationship between mass, velocity, and acceleration, and graph motor outputs using these concepts

  • Create programs using randomness & probability, implementing a random number generator

  • All in a fast-paced, energetic afternoon!
