April 17: Improvising at the Piano with Michael Stryker
Description
Join us for this set of program offerings for today’s musician. Whether you are a music student preparing for a musical career, an amateur musician wanting to learn more, or a professional musician wanting to glean from cohorts in the trenches, these studio classes will provide current, relevant and important information for you! Taught by today’s successful music professionals who are known nationally and internationally, you will take away valuable insights and practical tips for all musical genres.

Soloing as a jazz pianist is a killer blend of voicings played by the left hand, voicings played by both hands, and melodies played in the right hand. The left hand is also a rich melodic resource. Learn about harmony expressed vertically by the left hand, as well as by the right hand. We will explore these topics as well as the concept of the piano as a triple-threat: it’s a percussion instrument, chordal instrumental, and melodic instrument all rolled into one. All instrumentalists and vocalists welcome.

High speed internet is required. The classes are provided over a Zoom platform. Links will be provided after registration.
