CREATIVE WRITING :VIRTUAL workshop w/ MRS LARSON VIRTUAL
A 10 DAY WORKSHOP THAT BEGINS ON JULY 19 AND ENDS ON JULY 30
10:00 am to 11:30 am
Upper School Creative Writing Workshop: In this interactive workshop, students will flex their creative writing muscles and gain a deeper understanding of both the structure and techniques of the short story form, memoir, and poetry. Meetings will include (but are not limited to) sample readings of each genre, writerly advice, writing exercises, lessons on craft, take-home assignments, and sharing one’s writing in a friendly workshop environment. Each student will complete several pieces by the workshop’s end. Students are responsible for working on pieces in their spare time, responding to their colleagues’ pieces, and attending meetings. If you really love to write, this is a great opportunity. There’s nothing like being a part of a community of writers.
Melissa Larson has been an English teacher for 19 years at both the college and high school levels. During her time as a teacher, she has had the pleasure of leading writing workshops across New Jersey for middle school students, high school students, and adults. A published writer, Ms. Larson particularly loves teaching the crafts of memoir and short stories. She very much enjoyed the writing workshops she led both last summer and autumn in memoir, short story, and poetry, and is looking forward to meeting with more students who love to write!
