Dauphin Island Sea Lab
Description

Girl Scout Dauphin Island Sea Lab Adventure

Spend the weekend exploring Alabama's amazing coastal ecosystems with an overnight adventure at the Dauphin Island Sea Lab! Girls will experience marine science firsthand through exciting field investigations, hands-on activities, and behind-the-scenes learning with Sea Lab educators.

During this immersive weekend, girls will:

🚢 Research Vessel Exploration – Head out on the Sea Lab's research vessel as scientists pull a trawl net behind the boat to collect marine life. Girls will help identify, observe, and safely touch many of the fascinating creatures that live in Mobile Bay and the Gulf.
🛶 Coastal Habitat Kayaking – Paddle through a beautiful coastal habitat while learning about the plants and animals that make this unique ecosystem so important.
🦀 Coastal Habitat Exploration – Get your feet wet as you explore another coastal habitat on foot, searching for crabs, fish, birds, and other wildlife in their natural environment. (This is a separate activity from the kayaking excursion.)
💧 Water Quality Investigation – Discover how scientists monitor the health of coastal waters through hands-on water quality testing and investigations.
🐠 Aquarium Visit – Explore the Dauphin Island Sea Lab Aquarium and learn about the incredible marine life found along Alabama's Gulf Coast.

Girls will stay in the Dauphin Island Sea Lab dorms with two people per room and enjoy meals in the Sea Lab cafeteria.
