Camp Coleman CIT I and II
Description
Counselor in Training (CIT) I & II Program

The Counselor in Training (CIT) Program is designed for older Girl Scouts who are ready to take the next step in leadership at camp. CIT I participants must be entering 9th grade, and CIT II participants must have successfully completed CIT I and be entering 10th grade.
The program takes place over two weeks and blends skill-building with real camp experience.

Week One: Leadership Intensive (3 Days)

During this intensive training week, CITs will learn how camp operates behind the scenes while building essential leadership skills. Topics include child and teen development, supporting campers who are homesick, conflict resolution, program planning, camper behavior management, leading songs and games, and modeling positive camp spirit. CITs will also practice communication, teamwork, and responsibility in preparation for working directly with campers.

Week Two: Hands-On Camp Experience

In the second week, CITs put their training into action. Participants will help plan, prepare, and lead activities alongside camp staff while working directly with campers. This hands-on experience allows CITs to apply their leadership skills, gain confidence, and experience what it’s like to be a counselor in a supportive, supervised environment.
The CIT Program is ideal for girls who love camp, enjoy working with younger campers, and want to grow as leaders while preparing for future counselor roles.
