A Special Invitation to Former Camp Orkila Staff & Their Families

Some places never really leave you — and for those of us who called Orkila home, that’s especially true.

Whether you led a cabin group or a forest ecology class, fed hundreds of hungry campers from the kitchen, or helped a kid clip into a harness for the first time — if you ever worked at Camp Orkila, this invitation is for you.

This Labor Day weekend, September 4–7, we’re reopening the gates for an alumni family camp reunion. Bring your family, your chosen family, your people — and come back to the island.

Spend the weekend the way it was always meant to be spent: swimming at the pool, walking the beach, playing in the field, and gathering around the campfire under the stars. Rekindle old friendships, share the place that shaped you with the people you love most, and remember what it felt like to belong here. Take the time to connect with your family during a weekend full of adventure, relaxation, and camp fun. Enjoy traditional camp activities like archery, arts & crafts, the climbing wall, beach walks, and squid dissection. In addition to staffed offerings, families can enjoy camp’s hiking trails or sport areas. Meals are served buffet-style in our dining hall. Families will be assigned to a table with additional families to share meals.

We are committed to making YMCA Camping and Outdoor Leadership programs more accessible for everyone. Simply select the price most appropriate for your family. Your selections are completely confidential and do not impact the quality of your participant’s experience. A Non-Refundable deposit of 25% is required for all registrations and is applied to the total amount due.

Our goal is to remove barriers that prevent anyone from participating in our programs, including financial barriers. If our lowest prices still create a financial barrier that prevents you from participating in our programs, we invite you to fill out a Financial Assistance Application. Once we have reviewed and approved your application, you will receive an email confirming the percentage you have been awarded. The percentage awarded will automatically be applied to your account and be reflected in your final balance. A $35 deposit will still be required to confirm your reservation.
