Session 4 - Traditional Seekers
Description

Entering grades 3-5 in the fall of 2026.

Camp Orkila’s Seeker program offers a welcoming introduction to the overnight camp experience. As part of our Traditional Camp progression—divided into three age-based programs: Seekers, Explorers, and Challengers—Seekers are our youngest overnight campers and enjoy an experience tailored to building confidence, independence, and community.

Throughout the week, Seeker participants explore a wide range of classic camp activities. Days may include swimming in the pool, discovering marine life at the beach, creating in the arts and crafts center, or taking on rope course elements like the giant swing. They also visit our Marine Salmon Center and enjoy memorable all-camp events such as campfires and dances. Campers also get to choose from a variety of activity options during daily choice time, allowing them to follow their interests and try something new.

A highlight of the week is a special night sleeping under the stars at our Enchanted Forest campsite at Camp Orkila.

In their cabin groups, campers form meaningful relationships with peers and counselors while playing, learning, and growing together. Whether mastering a new skill or cheering on a friend, Seekers are encouraged to take safe risks, express themselves, and experience a deep sense of belonging in a supportive environment.

Cabin Assignments: Cabins are designated as male or female and campers are placed in cabins based on their gender when registering for camp. Staff assigned to cabins may have a different gender identity than the campers in that cabin. Cabin groups consist of campers within the same program who are matched by age or developmental stage.

We are committed to making YMCA Camping and Outdoor Leadership programs more accessible for everyone. We have created our pricing options and developed a voluntary sliding fee schedule. Simply select the price most appropriate for your family. Your selections are completely confidential and do not impact the quality of your participant’s experience.
$150 non-refundable deposit is required for all registrations and is applied to the total amount due.

Price A reflects the full price of sending a participant to the program selected. This level represents the full price of camp operations, including industry leading training and staffing, support for long-term maintenance, repairs, and facility enhancements.

Price B is partially sponsored by funds generously contributed by our supporters to help families unable to afford the full price of the program.

Price C is our most accessible rate, supported by generous contributions from our donors to ensure a positive camp experience for as many participants as possible.

Our goal is to remove barriers that prevent anyone from participating in our programs, including financial barriers. If our lowest price still creates a financial barrier that prevents you from participating in our programs, we invite you to fill out a Financial Assistance Application. Once we have reviewed and approved your application, you will receive an email confirming the percentage you have been awarded.* A $50 deposit is still required to confirm your reservation.

*We are only able to offer financial assistance for one registration per participant each summer.
