Geometry Honors
Description
Grade Level: Incoming Freshmen* and Rising Sophomores
Course Dates/Times: Monday, June 8 - Thursday, July 9, 2026 (Mondays - Fridays), 8:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

This course is designed to improve students’ abilities to reason and use logic as a tool for writing valid arguments. Students will gain a deep understanding of deductive structure as they explore triangles, quadrilaterals, regular polygons, and circles. This proof-oriented course will require critical thinking skills and creativity in problem solving as students pursue multiple routes to solving problems.

Prerequisites:
For incoming freshmen:
Students placed in Geometry Honors for the 2026-27 school year are eligible to take this course over the summer term.
Entrance exam scores and application materials are used to determine course placement and eligibility for incoming students.
For returning students:
Successful completion of Algebra I Honors with no grades lower than “C”
OR successful completion of Algebra I with A’s both semesters, a qualifying score on the department placement test (offered in May 2026), and teacher recommendation.

Materials:
Incoming freshmen will need to purchase their school-year iPads and complete setup and network access instructions from our Technology Department before the start of this course.
No textbook purchase is required (books will be provided to students in class to use for the summer term), but students will need to bring a calculator to class daily. Any basic calculator is acceptable for this course.
Incoming freshmen should be aware that a TI-84 Plus graphing calculator will be required for some Fenwick math courses including Algebra II Honors; students purchasing a new calculator for high school should purchase this device.
