Privacy Policy
Tinkering School and Brightworks are both programs under the parent organization The Institute for Applied Tinkering, a federally recognized 501c3 non-profit. Your registration/application to Tinkering School is a registration/application to a program of The Institute for Applied Tinkering.

We (Tinkering School, Brightworks, and our parent organization, The Institute for Applied Tinkering) will never share or sell any of the personal information you give to us with anyone else, ever. We are also committed to telling you exactly how we collect your information and exactly what we will use it for.

We use various third party applications to help us with our registrations and mailing lists. We have picked all of our services to make sure we retain full control of how data is collected and how it is used.

When you sign up for our mailing list, we use a third party mailing list service called Madmimi to collect your email address and send you updates. You can review their privacy policies here https://madmimi.com/legal/privacy

When you sign up for the mailing list we will use the information you provide us to email you about upcoming programs, new programs, newsworthy events and (rarely) opportunities to donate.

We utilize third party registration systems called UltraCamp and ActiveWorks that you will use to sign up for our programs and we use to collect payments. You can read about their privacy policies and security policies on their websites https://www.ultracamp.com/default.aspx and https://activeworks.active.com/

When you register for a program with us we use the information you provide us for internal reporting. This ranges from printing sign-in sheets, to figuring out who our alumni are, to running end of year reports so we may better understand the population who comes to tinkering school. All of these uses will be internal.

If we ever make any numbers public we will take thorough steps to abstract the information and prevent any private information from being shared. For example, if we hit our goal of a truly 50/50 gender balance for our programs for a whole year, we will use gender information you provide to get that number, but will only share the generalized and abstracted number with the public.

With respect to cookies: We use cookies to record session information, such as items that consumers add to their shopping cart during registration.

With respect to phone numbers, we will only use these to contact you about programs you have signed up for (confirmation, payment issues, class cancellation etc) or in the event of a necessary update about your child.

With respect to Ad Servers: We do not partner with or have special relationships with any ad server companies. You should never see any ads on our site.
