Track & Sign Certification | Feb 6-7, 2022
Description
The Track and Sign Certification is a two-day practical field test and learning opportunity that emphasizes open, honest dialogue and real learning. The track and sign of any and all species encountered in the field may be asked, whether big or small, clear or obscure. After participants give their answers, the evaluator engages participants in a dialog that provides opportunity for everyone to learn the field marks used for identification. Answers are collected and scored to evaluate each participant’s level of track and sign knowledge.

Tracker Certification emphasizes practical tracking and the development of reliable field skills; it is unassociated with any philosophy or tracking school. No prior training is required to participate. For more information on the evaluation process, visit: http://trackercertification.com/track-and-signcertifications/. The evaluation is run under the auspices of CyberTracker Conservation (1) and is administered by a qualified evaluator (2). If you score well enough on the evaluation, you will be added to CyberTracker’s roster of Certified Trackers.

(1) CyberTracker Conservation is a non-profit organization whose vision is to promote a worldwide environmental monitoring network. For more information visit: http://trackercertification.com/

(2) Your Evaluator: Nate Harvey evaluates trackers for CyberTracker Conservation in both Trailing and Track & Sign Identification. Additionally, he teaches Trailing in workshops near his home in southern Vermont and around the country. He is one of nine evaluators in North America qualified by CyberTracker to conduct tracking evaluations.
