Elk State Forest
2020 Teen Elk Tracking Weekend | Mar 27-29
3/27/2020 - 3/29/2020
Ages 13 - 17
Registration for this session is no longer available
This is an expedition for teens in the steep mountains and deep valleys of central PA. Elk were extirpated from Pennsylvania until they were reintroduced in the early 20th century from Yellowstone National Park. Male elk, or "bulls" shed their antlers in late winter / early spring, so we will be hunting for sheds as we practice trailing elk, deer, bear, and other mammals.

We will meet in the afternoon in a central location in NJ before carpooling out to our camping location. Participants can carpool with instructors, or can be dropped off at the camping site in Elk National Forest in the evening. The program will end on Sunday at noon. All food, drink, and snacks provided. Participants must bring their own personal camping gear.

Led by instructors Alex Carney, Kristi Knapp, and Jamie Coyle.

Tuition: $200 (includes a $25 nonrefundable deposit)

Max: 15 participants
