Philosophy is the study of life’s burning questions that answer big questions science can’t solve. How do you know what is good and what is evil? Why do we need knowledge? What is a fact? How do we decide what real science is and what pseudoscience is? Through the lens of art, we will channel Plato to Hume and tap into 2,000 of wisdom to find your own answers to these and other questions.

We will use different art projects to meet Aristotle, Plato, Aurelius, Epictetus, Galileo, Bacon, Descartes, Newton, Hume, and Gettier. You will draw using 2D animation on iPad, graphite pencils, oil pastels, acrylic and watercolors, diorama, collage, and wax.

Each art project and technique will help you develop your own ideas. Throughout the week, you will be encouraged to develop precise, rigorous arguments through logic, critical thinking, and rationality - all of which are incredibly valuable academic and life tools.

Parents are invited to an open house on Friday at 3:15 pm to view our young philosophers' arts.

The class will take one field trip to Golden Gate Park to practice stoic thinking.
