Language Foundations: Grades 3–4
Overview:
This therapeutic, non-graded class provides evidence-based, multisensory literacy instruction for students with dyslexia and other reading-based learning differences. Sessions are taught by a Certified Academic Language Therapist (CALT).
Structure:
Instruction is delivered in groups of 1–2 students, using the Wilson Reading System® (WRS) as the primary curriculum, with other Orton-Gillingham-based tools like Sequential English Education (SEE) used and/or integrated as appropriate and needed to supplement instructional goals.
- Students attend sessions 4–5 days per week for 30 minutes. These sessions replace their Fundations® phonics block.
- Depending on scheduling needs, if it is not possible to pull from the Fundations® phonics block consistently, we reserve the secondary option to pull students in a combination that includes the Fundations® phonics block and their two 45-minute Spanish blocks, each week.
