Description
What would you do if a mysterious disease began spreading across the globe?

In this interactive, game-based class inspired by the board game Pandemic, we will become epidemiologists, scientists, and policymakers, working together to stop outbreaks before they spiral out of control. Through hands-on simulations and role-playing, we will investigate how diseases spread, analyze evidence, and make high-stakes decisions with real consequences.

You will build physical models of pathogens, map and track outbreaks using mapping software, test how hygiene affects bacterial growth on agar plates, observe microbes on prepared microscope slides, and solve case-based outbreak investigations using symptoms and data clues. As the simulation unfolds, you will model how quickly infectious diseases spread, design prevention strategies such as vector control and clean water systems, and debate response options while managing limited resources and public trust.

Real stories of scientists who made breakthrough discoveries are woven throughout the experience, showing how curiosity, persistence, and collaboration save lives.
