Home School Biome Learners (8-12 year olds)
Take a step into the Mammal Hall and learn the secrets that have helped California wildlife survive and thrive in the unique biome that is Santa Barbara. Learn the secrets of Seal Blubber and Sea Otter fur, and why the black bear has reigned supreme in the Santa Ynez Mountains. Learn the tracks of coyote and compare them to those of our k9 companions! We will hone our observational skills and learn the ways of the wild.
Utilizing the Santa Barbara Gallery as a template we will dive into and gain an understanding of the biome of Mission Creek. Participants will learn the crucial components of this special habitat. What animals and plants call this place home and how we protect and appreciate this special canyon and creek in Santa Barbara. At the end of the class the participants will put together a field guide of their own making and present them to families at the conclusion of the class
