STEAM Camps (ages 6-8)
Description
These STEAM camps are for 6-8 year olds. Choose as many half-day sessions as you would like. Options are listed by week and time frame. Each half-day camp is $160.

Camps offered weeks 1 - 3 will be also be offered weeks 4 - 6.

If you register for a morning and afternoon session in the same week, our staff will provide activities in between sessions from 11:30am - 12:30pm. Participants are required to bring their own lunch.

Do not register for two camps running in the same week at the same time.

STEAM Camps (Ages 6-8)
Week 1A: June 17th - 21st I 8:30am - 11:30am
Art Explosion
Adventurous artists use splatter techniques, water balloon explosions, spin art, and paint-tinted bubble mix to create fabulous creative images in the spirit of artist Jackson Pollock. They explore the expressive potential in high-energy art through a variety of mediums as they discover their own creative voice.

Build It Discovery Camp
If your camper is curious about buildings and loves to try to figure things out, this is the perfect camp! Campers identify the materials and geometry found in architecture, and discover how big buildings are really made up of smaller parts. Then, they explore how it all comes together through drawings and basic 3D models making as they imagine buildings of their own creation.

Sculpt & Zoom
Discover the world of 3D sculpture and motion in this fun STEAM camp. Campers explore the art and physics of kinetic sculptures, making pieces that soar, glide, roll, and zoom. Starting with materials like cardboard, clay, and wire, campers will bring creations to life with motors, wind, weight, and lots of imagination.

Where's My Supersuit?
Campers explore the exciting stories and powers of superheroes like Batman, Spider-Man, and Captain Marvel. We will read stories as inspiration then create superhero (or supervillain) identities of our own. We will make capes, masks, and maybe a gadget or two. Then, we weave our characters together to bring to life a new superhero universe.

Week 2A: June 24th - 28th I 8:30am - 11:30am
Colorful World
Discover the world of visual art through an exploration of color. Campers use observed and imaginative palettes as we draw and paint, create prints, and build sculpture with a focus on dazzling hues. We encounter great artists throughout history who used color in surprising and amazing ways while creating works in all the colors of the rainbow.

Week 2B: June 24th - 28th I 12:30pm - 3:30pm
Flight & Art
Campers at BW's outdoor spaces explore exciting STEAM concepts in our  backyard. Campers create flying art like wind catchers, kites, and pinwheels, delving into the science of flight. They share their artistic talents by painting and decorating birdhouses, all while observing and learning about local bird species and their habitats.

Garden Art
Campers will explore both real and imagined gardens in this camp. They make leaf prints; build stepping stones; and create rock mandalas, natural weavings, and watercolor flowers. They also take a turn at gardening—planting treasures to bring home!

Week 3A: July 8th - 12th I 8:30am - 11:30am
Futures with Robots and Beyond
Create a futuristic story filled with robots and advanced technology using a mix of drama and art. Imagine being a robot or an inventor and work together to build an exciting narrative. Your sci-fi adventure can include spaceships, flying vehicles, and futuristic innovations. As a team, design props and backgrounds to showcase your story at the end of camp.

Campers learn to create favorite summertime treats like ice cream, lemonade, and spaghetti with sauce made from fresh garden tomatoes. Campers personalize kitchen aprons, learn about kitchen safety, and practice basic skills like measuring and following directions.

Heroic STEAM
Campers, inspired by superheroes and inventors, dive into a STEAM adventure. They keep science journals, do exciting experiments, and even make music come alive. Infusing creativity, campers craft characters, props, and a collaborative story for the grand finale.

Brave artists will go on a dinosaur adventure, creating characters like  t-rexes or raptors for our story. These characters will come together to make an exciting play. From making paper mache dinosaur masks to crafting fossils, they'll create props to tell their tale at the end of camp.

Week 6A: July 29th - August 2nd I 8:30am - 11:30am
Calder Creations
Campers explore concepts of balance, shape, color, and design as we construct kinetic sculptures. Inspired by the work of Alexander Calder, young artists will use wire, beads, paper, natural items and cardboard to create unique suspended mobiles and balanced standing sculptures. These unique art pieces “dance” in air currents and wind and we will explore them inside and outside.
