Jazz & Drill Technique
Description
This upbeat and energetic class places jazz technique at the forefront while helping Middle School students build a strong technical foundation for drill team and performance.

Dancers will focus on classic jazz fundamentals including flexibility, strength, posture, coordination, musicality, turns, jumps, kick technique, and sharp arm placement through dynamic warm-ups, across-the-floor progressions, and stylized combinations. Emphasis is placed on proper alignment, rhythm, precision, and performance quality while encouraging confidence, creativity, and stage presence. Students will also explore choreography, teamwork, and presentation skills that are essential for drill team preparation.

Attire: Black leotard (tank or spaghetti straps) or Black fitted tank/t-shirt, Black jazz pants/leggings, Tan split-sole jazz shoes. Class attire information can be found on the Parish Extend website: https://parishplus.org/programs/parishextend/dance-academy/

*Dancers will participate in the Merry & Bright Performance on Wednesday, December 9, 2026. Please note that the class fee includes the performance costume.
