What is Parish Lab

Parish Lab is a non-graded academic support program within The Gilman Study that is available to students in 3rd-12th grade. The purpose of the Parish Lab program is to help students develop self-awareness and self-understanding via self-exploration and strategic, research-based instruction. Students in Parish Lab can expect to experience improvements in their understanding and application of executive functioning skills, study skills, learning styles, and personal strengths. Students also build positive academic habits through the implementation of consistent routines and effective strategies.

Note: Students in Middle School must have an active Individual Accommodation Plan (IAP).

Effectiveness & Expectations

Is Parish Lab Effective for All Students

Success in Parish Lab depends on student buy-in. The most successful students are honest about their habits, open to coaching, and benefit from consistent communication between home and school.

Behavioral Expectations

Students must follow the expectations outlined in the student handbook. The Lab is a safe, supportive space designed to build self-awareness, confidence, and academic success. Students should demonstrate respect, focus, and a willingness to engage in learning.
