Reading Workshop: Rising Readers
Description
This engaging workshop introduces rising Kindergarten students to the joy of reading and writing in a supportive, developmentally appropriate environment.

Campers will use small readers and leveled texts to practice early literacy skills such as letter sounds, tapping out and blending words, using picture clues, and answering simple comprehension questions. In writing activities, students will brainstorm ideas, sound out words, compose simple sentences, and create illustrated books while building fine motor skills and confidence as young authors. Through small-group instruction, literacy games, and hands-on activities, this workshop fosters self-esteem, builds enthusiasm for reading and writing, and helps prevent the summer slide.

Workshops are capped to ensure a low student-to-teacher ratio. Families will receive writing samples and a progress summary at the end of the week highlighting activities, strengths, and areas for continued growth.
