Reading & Writing Workshop-2nd-3rd
Description
Dive into a week dedicated to strengthening both reading and writing skills in a supportive, engaging environment!

During the week, campers will work with mentor texts and leveled books to practice using reading clues, decoding unfamiliar words, and answering comprehension questions with confidence. Instruction is tailored to students at different stages of their literacy journey, ensuring each camper receives targeted support.

Alongside daily reading groups focused on comprehension, fluency, and decoding strategies, students will also engage in guided writing activities that reinforce what they read. Campers will respond to texts through short written reflections and creative writing prompts that encourage them to summarize, describe characters, and express their ideas clearly in writing. Writing instruction will emphasize sentence structure, spelling patterns, and the use of details to communicate meaning. Campers will build confidence as both readers and writers while developing stamina and independence. This workshop is thoughtfully designed to foster self-esteem and ignite enthusiasm for literacy.

A camp summary will be sent home the Friday of camp week.
