Writing Enrichment: Journaling Nature
Description
In this creative writing enrichment workshop, rising 2nd and 3rd graders will explore the art of journaling through observation and reflection. Using the natural world as inspiration, campers will learn how writers capture details, feelings, and ideas by carefully noticing what they see, hear, and experience. Each day, students will practice short journaling activities focused on sensory details, descriptive language, and clear sentence structure.

Through guided prompts, mentor texts, sketching, and outdoor-inspired observation activities, campers will learn how words and drawings work together to tell a story or record an experience. Writing instruction will emphasize organization, adding details, and revising ideas to make writing stronger. This workshop builds confidence, writing stamina, and creativity while encouraging curiosity and mindfulness. By the end of the week, campers will create a personal Nature Journal to take home, showcasing their growth as writers and observers.

A camp summary will be sent home the Friday of camp week.
