Reading Workshop-7th
Description
In this focused reading workshop, incoming 7th graders will make substantial progress on their required summer reading selection while sharpening the analytical skills expected in upper middle school.

Each day includes sustained independent reading time paired with structured discussions that encourage careful reading, reflection, and accountability. Students will examine literary elements such as character development, conflict, theme, and the author’s craft, while practicing effective annotation strategies and evidence-based discussion skills. Through guided small-group conversations, campers learn to ask thoughtful questions, support interpretations with textual evidence, and engage respectfully with multiple perspectives.

This workshop prepares students for the increased rigor of 7th grade English by strengthening reading stamina, critical thinking, and academic discussion skills before the school year begins. Families will receive a camp summary at the end of the week, highlighting progress and skills practiced.

NOTE: The title and author of the required summer reading book will be shared via email in the spring.
