Contemporary Modern

This class reinforces the fundamental concepts of space, time, and energy through modern dance technique. Instruction focuses on weight and suspension, fall and recovery, strength and release. Students will also explore contemporary movement and improvisation to expand their creativity, expression, and range as dancers.

*Dancers will participate in the 14th Annual Parish Extend Dance Academy Performance on May 16. A rehearsal is scheduled for May 15. The class fee includes the costume for the performance.


Attire: Black leotard (tank or spaghetti straps) or black fitted tank/t-shirt; black boy shorts optional (must wear flesh-colored convertible tights). No shoes for the modern portion. Hair should be pulled away from the face.
