Beginning Contemporary
Description
Beginning Contemporary

In this imaginative and expressive class, young dancers will explore the foundations of contemporary dance through creative movement, storytelling, and age-appropriate technique. Students will learn how to connect emotion with movement while developing coordination, balance, and musicality. Class activities include floor work, basic improvisation, and fun choreography set to inspiring music. This is the perfect class for dancers who love to move freely, explore new ways of expressing themselves, and begin building the skills they'll use in more advanced contemporary styles.

*Dancers will participate in the 14th Annual Parish Extend Dance Academy Performance on May 16. A rehearsal is scheduled for May 15. The class fee includes the costume for the performance.

Attire: Black leotard (tank or spaghetti straps), black jazz pants or leggings, black boy shorts optional (must wear flesh-colored convertible tights), tan split-sole slip-on jazz shoes, and hair pulled away from the face.
