Foster Care Adventure Weekend - March
Description
Foster Care Adventure Weekends run throughout the year are designed to give youth in the Foster Care system (ages 7-17) a chance to challenge themselves, grow, build strong relationships, share incredible experiences, and creating lasting positive memories. All this is done using the transformative power of a therapeutic outdoor adventure environment that acts as a catalyst to inspire growth of personal-efficacy, connection, and purpose. Youth will be part of a group of no more than 10-12 campers who come to the Meramec Adventure Ranch in Steelville, Missouri to complete a Friday-Sunday adventure experience.

During their time at the Ranch, campers stay in the Wilderness Lodge, learn basic camp skills, cook over an open fire, and participate in a myriad of activities such as climbing, swimming, canoeing, kayaking, horseback riding, ropes courses, and land navigation, as well as evening bonfires, games, and activities. Each group is led by two or three staff/guides who facilitate the group through the daily routine and activities. Activities are designed to foster the development of the camper’s belief in their capabilities, grit, purpose in serving each other, and group interdependence. Daily themes, competitions, and special events led by the staff are conducted to add to the campers’ enjoyment of the experience.
