3-day Half Day Program "Kingman Island Stewards: Protect Your Local Park"
Description
Casey Trees and Urban Adventure Squad are teaming up for this three-day, half day program at D.C.'s Kingman and Heritage Islands. Educators from Casey Trees and Urban Adventure Squad will lead rising 4th and 5th grade students on daily hikes to explore the islands and recognize the importance of protecting natural spaces. Students will participate in outdoor learning activities like tree, bird, and insect identification, an urban heat island investigation, and a bark spotters craft to learn about the plants and animals who need healthy green spaces and rivers to survive. We'll build up to a paddling adventure on Thursday, joining forces with Living Classrooms' Green Boats program, to clean up litter from the river while paddling kayaks and canoes!
