June Engaged Mindfulness: Meditation in Nature
Description
These days a lot of us are feeling overwhelmed, anxious, and exhausted by the pace of change. If you would like to find a way to calm your mind, I hope you’ll consider joining me for mindfulness in nature. We will focus on learning mindfulness in meditation and everyday activities, especially outside in nature. Meditation in nature, especially this beautiful working farm, is a wonderful way to regenerate and cultivate deep resilience. Research indicates that being in green space boosts our cognition, creativity and mood!
Mindfulness is simply a particular way of paying attention with curiosity, and meditation is one way to practice mindfulness. We take a break from the thinking mind that is constantly evaluating, judging, planning, regretting, etc. In doing that, we can explore how to steady the mind and ground the body. Then we practice to bring that steadiness into all that we do. In our time together we’ll do some formal sitting and walking meditation, and learn practical tools for bringing mindfulness outdoors and in all aspects of everyday life. You don’t need to have any experience to join; just an open mind, an experimental spirit and a love of nature.
