Socktober Knitting Series
Description
Tuesday Series October 21 - November 18, noon-1:30 pm
Overview Take your knitting to the next level by learning to knit “Magic Loop” style. Magic Loop is a preferred method for small circumference knitting (think - sweater sleeves or SOCKS!). In honor of Socktober - we will be following the Vanilla Sock Pattern by the Crazy Sock Lady. Socks are a great pattern to return to again and again. Socks make wonderful gift knitting for holidays and gift giving. You will be introduced to how to select a sock yarn; the concept of negative ease; how to knit in the round magic loop style; how to turn a heel; pick up stitches; decrease stitches for a “gussett” and how to seam a toe using kitchener stitch.
Prerequisites: anyone that knows how to knit, purl, increase and decrease can take this class. The class is geared toward the confident beginner. A small caveat: to complete one sock in five weeks time requires weekly knitting homework. If you cannot complete the homework, that is okay with me and you may still join in the FUN but you will have to finish your first sock either in the next round of classes or by using the pre-recorded videos.
Class Materials Materials will be provided as a kit from Knit Tuck & Purl in Lexington, MA. Your kit will include: the pattern, one skein of fingering weight sock yarn; a project bag; 32-inch size US 1 stainless steel chiaogoo circular needles; and a tapestry needle. The cost for the kit is $55, in addition to the registration fee.
A note about the dates Please note that the class will meet on the following Tuesdays: October 21, October 28, November 4, November 18. There will be no class on November 11.
