Leaders in Training (LIT): Summer 2025
Description
Has your child aged out of our summer programs, but they love spending time at the farm?
Are they ready to step into a leadership role and share their knowledge with others?
Our new Leadership in Training (LIT) program is for kids entering grades 7–9 who are eager to grow as role models, educators, and Wright-Locke farm community leaders! The 2-week program will run Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm on July 7 to July 18.
During Week 1, LITs will work closely with our farm educators to develop leadership skills, learn effective teaching strategies, and build confidence through hands-on activities rooted in our farm’s unique learning environment. In Week 2, participants will put their new skills into action by assisting with younger children’s summer programs groups.
This program is perfect for young teens who love the outdoors, enjoy working with children, and are excited to take on new challenges in a supportive, fun-filled setting!
Upon successful completion of the LIT program, kids will be qualified to return to the farm this summer to volunteer with the youth programs team. Please note that Wright Locke Farm does not hire staff until they are 18 years old and completion of the LIT program does not imply a paid position at the farm, nor does it mean that kids can volunteer without checking in with youth programs manager Emily Allen (eallen@wlfarm.org ).
