Week 7 - The Deep Sea – Deep Sea Creatures and Crustaceans

Venture into the mysterious depths of the ocean, where incredible creatures thrive in pitch-black waters. Explore how these ancient and resilient species have adapted to life in the deep sea’s extreme conditions. We’ll also explore many different species of crustaceans, with a special focus on horseshoe crabs—one of Earth’s most perfectly evolved species, unchanged for millions of years. Learn about their crucial role in ocean ecosystems and discover the wonders of life far beneath the surface.


The Young Mariner Program (YMP) is a summer camp for kids entering grades 4-7 that combines marine biology, on-water exploration, and hands-on activities. Campers spend time both at the museum and on the water, learning about Cape Cod’s marine life, maritime history and environmental stewardship.

Weekly sessions run Monday through Friday, 9 AM - 3 PM, with a STEM-based curriculum designed to spark curiosity and build confidence on and around the water
