Lifeguard Instructor Course
Description
Become an American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor or Renew Your Current Lifeguard Instructor Certification!

Participants will gain the knowledge and skills to teach the basic-level courses in the American Red Cross Lifeguarding program.

ARC Lifeguard Instructor is a blended learning course - registrants will be sent a link to an online classroom portion that MUST be completed before the in-person portion of the course. (approximately 7 hours or eLearning) Participants who fail to complete the online portion before the in-person training will NOT be allowed to participate and will not be refunded.

Participants must be able to complete the prerequisites before signing up for the class. Attendance through all training days is required to earn the certification - participants cannot miss a day or portions of a day(s).

Course Prerequisites
  • Be at least 17 years old on or before the final scheduled session of the Lifeguarding Instructor course.
  • Possess a current basic-level certification in American Red Cross Lifeguarding (Including Deep Water) with CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and First Aid. (Note: r.17 Lifeguarding certification accepted) Copy must be provided before start of course.
  • Obtain instructor and participant course materials before starting the course. (Printed copies will be provided at check in.)
  • Successfully complete the online session of the Lifeguarding Instructor course prior to the course session.
  • Successfully complete the prerequisite skill assessment scenario to continue in the course.
The prerequisite skill assessment scenario evaluates the following skills:
  • Entry
  • Swimming approach
  • Surface dive in deep water (7 to 10 feet)
  • Passive submerged rescue
  • Rapid extrication (with an assisting rescuer)
  • Rapid assessment
  • Single-rescuer CPR (3 minutes)
Scheduled Class Times: Friday, 12pm – 9pm; Saturday, 8am-5pm

    Girl Scouts Western Oklahoma reserves the right to cancel an event due to low enrollment or other circumstances which would make the event non-viable. If GSWESTOK cancels an event, registrants will be notified and offered a full refund.

    Registration Cancellation by Participant. Cancellations will be accepted in writing only and must be received by the stated cancellation deadline. Cancellations received after the stated deadline will not be eligible for a refund. A doctor's note will be required for any refunds after the cancellation deadline. Refunds will not be available for registrants who choose not to attend an event.
