Big on Candy: Exploring Scale & Color in Painting

In the 1960s and 70s, pop artists painted common objects, including food, as a way of focusing on contemporary life. Since that time, many artists have used different kinds of foods as subject matter. In this workshop, our focus will be specifically on candy. Colorful, yummy candy. We will take tiny sweet treats and enlarge them in order to highlight their luscious colors and forms. I will provide the treats that we will arrange and photograph to create our compositions for painting. We may be able to eat some too!

This workshop is for beginning and intermediate students (students who have no or some instruction in acrylic painting) in grades 6-8 who attend St. Paul Academy and Summit School.

Location:
All classes will meet at the SPA Randolph Campus in the Upper School art studio. Enter through the Davern Street entrance. Ms. Joy will meet students in the lobby before guiding the group to the art studio.
