This six-week class is geared toward beginner oil painters. Artists will build a strong foundation by learning essential techniques (such as stretching a canvas, color mixing, brushwork, mediums, and composition) through still-life basics. Focusing on a geometric still life, working in black and white with cones, spheres, and cubes.

With a focus on both technical growth and understanding of fundamental principles, this course offers the support of learning the medium of oil paint while learning the fundamentals to build the foundation of becoming a confident, capable painter. No personal projects will be allowed; this is a structured foundations course for beginners.

*Part 2 of the class will be offered, focusing on a color still life in the Fall session.
