TrueNorth is committed to protecting your privacy and developing technology that gives you a safe online experience. This Privacy Policy applies to the TrueNorth web site (the "Site") and governs data collection and usage of the Site only and does not apply to any other information collected by TrueNorth through any other means. By using the Site, you consent to the data practices described in this Privacy Policy.

1. Collection of your Personal Information. TrueNorth may collect and store personal or other information that you voluntarily supply TrueNorth online while using the Site. TrueNorth also collects anonymous demographic information, which is not unique to you, such as your ZIP code, age, gender, preferences, interests and favorites. There is also information about your computer hardware and software that is automatically collected by TrueNorth. This information can include: your IP address, browser type, domain names, access times and referring web site addresses. This information is used by TrueNorth for the operation of the service, to maintain quality of the service, and to provide general statistics regarding use of the Site.

In addition, if you are registering for a TrueNorth program, offering to volunteer for a TrueNorth program, or applying for certain family and household services, you may be asked to provide the last four digits of your social security number, credit card information, your birth date, gender, emergency contact information, and other personal, health and/or financial information. In some situations you may be asked to consent to a background investigation. The types of information that may be obtained in background investigations may include, but are not necessarily limited to the following: social security number verification, credit reports, criminal record checks and background investigations, public court records checks, driving records checks, education records checks, prior employment verification, personal and professional reference checks, and any other investigation deemed appropriate by TrueNorth in its sole discretion. Please keep in mind that if you directly disclose personally identifiable information or personally sensitive data through TrueNorth public message boards, conversation pages, chat rooms, blogs, profile pages and other similar services, that personal information may be publicly posted and otherwise publicly available for use. TrueNorth encourages you to review the privacy statements of web sites you choose to link to from TrueNorth so that you can understand how those web sites collect, use and share your information. TrueNorth is not responsible for privacy statements or other content on web sites other than the Site.

2. Use of your Personal Information. TrueNorth collects and uses your personal information to operate the Site and deliver the services you have requested. Where appropriate, TrueNorth may also use your personally identifiable information to inform you of other products or services available from TrueNorth and TrueNorth affiliates as well as other agencies, organizations, churches or individuals for the purpose of providing additional services and assistance. However, TrueNorth will not disclose information to other third party agencies, organizations, churches or individuals unless you are informed of the possibility of such disclosure when you initially provide the personally identifiable information to TrueNorth. TrueNorth may also contact you via surveys to conduct research about your opinion of current services or of potential new services that may be offered.

TrueNorth does not sell, rent or lease its user lists to third parties. TrueNorth may, from time to time, contact you on behalf of external business partners about a particular offering that may be of interest to you. In those cases, your unique personally identifiable information (e-mail, name, address, telephone number) is not transferred to the third party. In addition, TrueNorth may share data with trusted partners to help us perform statistical analysis, send you email or postal mail, provide customer support, or arrange for deliveries. All such third parties are prohibited from using your personal information except to provide these services to TrueNorth, and they are required to maintain the confidentiality of your information. TrueNorth does not use or disclose sensitive personal information, such as race, religion, or political affiliations, without your explicit consent.

TrueNorth keeps track of the pages our users visit within the Site in order to determine what TrueNorth services are the most popular. This data is used to deliver customized content within TrueNorth to users whose behavior indicates that they are interested in a particular subject area. TrueNorth will disclose your personal information, without notice, only if required to do so by law or in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to: (a) protect the security of the Site; (b) to take any precautions against liability TrueNorth deems necessary or advisable; (c) to respond to judicial process and subpoenas; or (d) to the extent permitted under provisions of applicable federal, state or local law; and/or to provide information to law enforcement agencies or for an investigation related to public safety or welfare.

3. Use of Cookies. The Site uses "cookies" to help you personalize your online experience. A cookie is a text file that is placed on your hard disk by a web page server. Cookies cannot be used to run programs or deliver viruses to your computer. Cookies are uniquely assigned to you, and can only be read by a web server in the domain that issued the cookie to you. One of the primary purposes of cookies is to provide a convenience feature to save you time. The purpose of a cookie is to tell the web server that you have returned to a specific page. For example, if you personalize TrueNorth pages, or register with the TrueNorth Site or for TrueNorth services, a cookie helps TrueNorth to recall your specific information on subsequent visits. This simplifies the process of recording your personal information, such as billing addresses, and so on. When you return to the Site, the information you previously provided can be retrieved, so you can easily use the TrueNorth features that you customized. You have the ability to accept or decline cookies. Most web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can usually modify your browser setting to decline cookies if you prefer. If you choose to decline cookies, you may not be able to fully experience the interactive features of the TrueNorth Site.

4. Security of your Personal Information. TrueNorth takes commercially reasonably measures to secure your personal information from unauthorized access, use or disclosure. TrueNorth secures the personally identifiable information you provide on computer servers in a controlled, secure environment, protected from unauthorized access, use or disclosure. When personal information (such as a credit card number, social security number, etc.) is transmitted to other web sites, it is protected through the use of encryption, such as the Secure Socket Layer (SSL) protocol.

5. Changes to this Privacy Policy. TrueNorth will occasionally update this Privacy Policy to reflect current TrueNorth policies. If this Privacy is revised, the revised Privacy Policy will be posted here with the date of the most recent version posted above. Continued use of the Site after any such revision or update constitutes your acceptance of the Privacy Policy as so revised or modified. TrueNorth encourages you to periodically review this Privacy Policy to be informed of how TrueNorth is protecting your information. Finally, the terms of this Privacy Policy are subject to all applicable laws, rules, and regulations.

6. Children's Privacy Policy. The Children's Online Privacy Protection Act ("COPPA") requires TrueNorth to: (i) inform parents and legal guardians about how TrueNorth collects, uses, and discloses personal information from children under age 13; and (ii) obtain the consent of parents and guardians in order for children under age 13 to use certain features of this Site. For purposes of this Privacy Policy, the term "parent" includes legal guardians.

(a) Children may visit the Site and view content without any personal information being collected. We do not collect personal information from children unless they register on the Site. Typically, children will register as a user of the Site in order to register for a camp or other service provided by TrueNorth. TrueNorth collects the following information from children during the Site registration process: the child's name, parent's e-mail address, child's birth date, user name, and password. TrueNorth collects birth dates to validate the ages of our users, including children. TrueNorth does not collect any other personally identifiable information from children during the registration process to become a user of the Site. TrueNorth may collect a child's e-mail address from a parent for the purpose of sending the child e-mail related to a camp or other program. TrueNorth is prohibited by law from conditioning a child's participation in an online activity on the child providing more personal information than is reasonably necessary under the circumstances.

(b) TrueNorth may also collect personal information from parents in order to allow children to participate in certain features located on the Sites such as postings on TrueNorth public message boards, conversation pages, chat rooms, blogs, profile pages and other similar activities. In the course of a child's participation in these features, a child may also provide us additional information, such as the contents of his or her chat or message board postings.

(c) In addition, personal information regarding a child may be collected and used to enable a child's participation in certain interactive features such as posting on message boards, blogs, and other similar activities. These activities may involve disclosure of a child's personal information to third parties. In addition, TrueNorth reserves the right to share a child's personal information with third parties to the extent reasonably necessary to: protect the security of the Site; to take any precautions against liability TrueNorth deems necessary or advisable; to respond to judicial process and subpoenas; or to the extent permitted under provisions of applicable federal, state or local law; and/or to provide information to law enforcement agencies or for an investigation related to public safety or welfare.

(d) TrueNorth will send parents an e-mail when their child initially registers on the Site. TrueNorth will provide parents 48 hours to refuse their child's registration. If the parent refuses to allow the registration, TrueNorth will delete the child's information from our database. However, if a parent does not respond to TrueNorth, TrueNorth will assume it is acceptable for the child to be registered as a user of this Site.

(e) Before allowing a child to register for a camp or other TrueNorth program and before allowing a child to use a feature of the Site that might result in the public disclosure of the child's information, such as posting on TrueNorth public message boards, conversation pages, chat rooms, blogs, profile pages and other similar activities, TrueNorth requires a higher level of verification to confirm that the parent consents to child's participation in such activities. By way of example and not limitation, TrueNorth may require a parent to: (i) provide credit card information, (ii) provide the last four digits of his/her child's social security number, (iii) provide credit card information, his/her child's gender, (iv) provide emergency contact information, (v) speak to TrueNorth staff, and/or (vi) return by regular mail or fax a signed consent form.

(f) Parents may at any time request that TrueNorth collect no further personal information from their Child and may also request that TrueNorth delete/destroy any personal information TrueNorth may have previously collected regarding the child from TrueNorth's records, provided, however, that the ability of TrueNorth to comply with the foregoing requests may be limited or precluded by obligations imposed on TrueNorth by law.
(g) This Children's Privacy Policy may be amended by TrueNorth at any time and from time to time. TrueNorth will provide parents notice by e-mail of any material changes in the way TrueNorth collects, uses, and/or shares children's personal information. TrueNorth will apply material changes in our Children's Privacy Policy only in conformance with applicable law, including any applicable provisions of COPPA that require parental consent.
