Berkeley Albany Girl Scout Day Camp for 2019 has the theme of Super Silly Sports. The program also includes a mix of crafts and working to build outdoor skills such as knot tying, fire safety, outdoor cooking, and orienteering and survival skills depending on the age level. All the activities are designed to help build leadership skills and basic life skills while offering a sense of fun. Older campers may also participate in a service project at the park directed by the Tilden EBRPD ranger staff.
Thursday evening all campers are invited to stay for a dinner which the campers help prepare and a traditional Girl Scout Campfire. Those campers who have completed 2nd grade or older are invited to stay for an optional overnight.
Camp is open to both registered Girl Scouts and those who are not registered. Those who are not registered as Girl Scouts for 2018/19 will be required to pay an additional $50 per person to cover their registration with Girl Scouts USA so that they will be covered by insurance.
Girls entering Kindergarten through 7th grade in the fall should register as campers. Girls entering 8th grade through 12th grade in September are eligible to register as Program Aides. These positions are limited. Any desiring to serve as Program Aide must already be registered as a Girl Scout for 2018/2019 and need to register for camp early to complete the required training; including the mandatory site training to be eligible. Total training time for girls who have worked at camp before will be between 16 and 18 hours. Girls have not previously been Program Aides must take an additional 8 hour course for new Program Aides.
