Description
LEGO ROBOTICS, ART, DANCE & SPORTS CAMP (4 day Camp - July 3rd ICC is closed)
Junior Lego Robotics:
Get ready to build, explore, and create! In this hands-on LEGO Robotics summer camp, young engineers will dive into the fascinating world of gears and motors using real, working LEGO models. Campers will explore motion and rotational movement, learning how gears of different sizes interact to change speed and direction, and discovering the many ways gears are used in everyday machines like bicycles and clocks. They'll then power up their builds with real motors, understanding how motors convert electricity into movement and how they drive the machines we rely on every day, from washing machines to elevators.
The real excitement comes when campers combine gears and motors together, seeing firsthand how this powerful duo is at the heart of almost every amazing machine in the world around them. And just like real engineers, they won't just build. They will also develop foundational engineering and science skills including:
Critical Thinking: Asking questions and working through challenges
Observation: Closely watching how their models move and behave
Inference: Making predictions about why things happen the way they do
Debugging: Spotting problems in their builds and figuring out how to fix them
Documentation: Describing what they built, what worked, and what they would try next time
No experience needed, just curiosity and a love of building!
.
Tablets/iPads will be required for all campers to bring for the robotics camp for the following purposes:
1) Following build instructions from their E-manual (this will also be projected into the class TV for all students to see)
2) Blocking coding to program their robots/builds
3) Virtual joysticks to control their robot/builds
If you aren't able to provide a device, just inform us in advance, one will be provided by ICC on a sharing basis.
Move, Create & Play: Active Fun Meets Creative Expression
Art:
Creative sessions introduce innovative art techniques inspired by classic styles, presented with a fresh and exciting twist. Kids explore colors, textures, and hands-on projects that encourage imagination and self-expression.
Sports:
Children will enjoy an active mix of soccer, basketball, athletics, stretching, and warm-up exercises. Fun, game-based activities help develop balance, coordination, focus, and confidence in a playful, age-appropriate way.
Lego Robotics:
Building with Motors and Gears In this hands-on robotics class, little curious minds will design and build exciting models! Each model includes real motors, allowing kids to create fully functional moving designs. Through creative play, students explore the basics of science, technology, and engineering, learning how motors drive gears and discovering the principles of gear rotation in a fun, engaging way.
Dance:
Through energetic and joyful movement, children will learn basic dance steps, rhythm, coordination, and expression. Dance activities encourage creativity, musicality, body awareness, and confidence while allowing children to express emotions and ideas through movement in a supportive environment.
Camp Requirements:
Please apply sunscreen and send your child with a cap for sun protection, as there may be outdoor play (Weather Permitting). Children should carry a water bottle labeled with their first and last name, and wear appropriate shoes and comfortable clothing that may get a little messy during both sports and art activities.
