On Camera! Breaking News! - 6/10-6/14
Monday - Friday
Times: 9am-3pm (with Free Extended Care: Before Care starts at 7:30am; After Care runs until 5:30pm)
Hot off the press! Get ready for a week of Special Bulletins and Live Coverage, brought to you by...YOU! "On Camera: Breaking News!" seamlessly blends elements of theatre, visual art, and creative writing to craft a compelling and dynamic final piece of work that you and your young person can enjoy together!
With their Teaching Artist, students in the class will collaboratively produce their own original short film, utilizing photography, videography, and imagination, centered around a chosen theme. At the culmination of this creative journey, students and grown ups will receive access to a downloadable link of the final short film that the students have created and brought to life.
*Please allow up to 2 weeks after the final class for the short film to be edited and sent to students and grown ups. Due to the nature of this class, there will NOT be an in-person sharing performance at the end of the week.
Similar to our Voyagers series, "On Camera" focuses on teaching very important basic acting skills, while also incorporating the art of digital storytelling. Students will learn to use the three primary tools of an actor, the voice, body, and imagination, to create characters. They will learn how to take their own creative impulses and ideas and commit to those ideas through the creation of a play as an ensemble.
Additionally, the students will develop collaborative and social skills that allow them to contribute personally while honoring the ideas of their cast-mates.
NCT’s focus is always the healthy development of young people. We believe that the skills that students learn in the process of play-building will serve them in their everyday lives as well as provide a foundation if they choose to continue to more advanced work (which we hope they do!).

NCT offers free extended care for our families. Before Care opens at 7:30 am and After Care closes at 5:30 pm. You can add this service during registration or on a day-to-day basis during the camp week. Extended care consists of supervised unstructured free time. Students are welcome to bring a book or electronic device (that NCT is not responsible for). Additionally, NCT provides coloring sheets, board games, marble towers, etc for students who are interested. Also, during after care, we will also have a daily option of a G or PG-rated children’s movie playing as an activity choice.
Check out our NEW Summer Camp Guide! This guide has our camp logistics, FAQs, and policies all in one handy-dandy document.
