This engaging, game-based course is designed for high-ability learners who thrive on challenge, collaboration, and active learning. Students strengthen Spanish vocabulary, listening, and conversational skills through traditional games from across Latin America that require strategic thinking, teamwork, and problem-solving. Each session integrates language acquisition with cultural and historical exploration, introducing students to regional traditions, customs, and everyday life throughout Latin America. Students practice speaking and comprehension in meaningful contexts while building confidence in real-world communication. Open to a range of Spanish experience levels, this course provides a dynamic and intellectually engaging environment where students deepen their language skills while gaining a broader understanding of the Spanish-speaking world.
STEM into Science
Who is ready to have hands-on experience with Science? The goal is to provide hands-on learning to help students engage in science. Students who do hands-on activities tend to remember more of what they were taught. During this course, students will build rockets, build 3-D diagrams of solar systems, create weather tools, use household items, and use a variety of edible treats to show the physical changes of the Earth. Using what they learn, from each activity, students will be able to identify the steps of the scientific process.
Where Does Literature Live?
Join us for an exciting journey into the world of literature that goes beyond the pages of a book! In our class, “Where Does Literature Live?”, students will discover how stories are woven into the fabric of everyday life through various forms of expression—fairytales, music, poetry, artwork, and film. Through this engaging exploration, students will uncover how themes, symbols, and characters from literature appear in movies, advertisements, and visual art around them. They will learn to analyze and appreciate various storytelling methods while honing essential skills such as critical thinking, visual literacy, and creative expression. The highlight of the class will be a creative project in which students will reinterpret a beloved fairytale or theme through their chosen medium—whether writing a new story, creating a drawing, or storyboarding a scene. Students will then showcase their masterpieces in a “Mini Story Gallery Walk,” inviting family and friends to celebrate their creativity and insights! Come join us for a unique literary adventure that inspires young minds to see the stories all around them!
