A Little Bit of Lit I Literature doesn’t just live in a book. It unfolds in myths and poems, in brushstrokes and on screens, carrying timeless stories into new forms. Uncover how stories travel across cultures and centuries—shaping heroes, monsters, and meaning. Designed to spark new ways of seeing the world through a literary lens you’ll connect ancient myths to modern movies, pair art with poetry, and create your own original myth-inspired work along the way. In this class, students will explore how classic tales and legendary characters have inspired generations of writers, artists, and filmmakers.
Through hands-on activities, creative projects, and thoughtful discussions, students will:
Discover how myths and stories from different cultures connect across time and place.
Examine how heroes, villains, and themes evolve from ancient legends to today’s popular media.
Pair classic literature with visual art, film, and even modern storytelling platforms.
Create their own original, myth-inspired piece—whether it’s a short story, poem, or artwork.
Designed to inspire imagination and critical thinking, this course helps students see literature as a living art form—one that continues to grow, adapt, and influence the stories we tell today. | |

Poetic Thinking (and Writing!) Students will explore the art of using words to paint vivid pictures for readers and listeners. This engaging, creative course invites students to transform their thoughts and ideas into powerful language through poetry, prose, and short fiction.
Participants will read and discuss inspiring example works, examining how authors use imagery, word choice, rhythm, and detail to bring ideas to life. Students will then apply these techniques in their own writing, experimenting with different styles and forms. Beyond creative writing, students will also discover how poetic thinking can strengthen reports and other academic writing by making their ideas more expressive and compelling.
The course will conclude with a special café-style showcase, where students will have the opportunity to share a favorite poem or paragraph they’ve created. Families will be invited to attend and celebrate the students’ creativity and growth as writers.
This class is perfect for students who enjoy storytelling, self-expression, and exploring the power of words.
