Description
The Massachusetts Junior Conservation Camp provides a unique experience of conservation, shooting sports, and outdoor recreation education. The camp’s program introduces young people to the ethical responsibilities of hunting and fishing in order to foster careful stewardship of our natural resources.

Activities
3Position Rifle and Black Powder
In the morning session, campers receive an introduction to competitive smallbore rifle shooting. In the afternoon session, campers learn black powder firearms and black powder hunting techniques.
Black Powder/ 3Position Rifle
In one session, campers will shoot black powder rifles and go on a mock hunt. In another session, campers will learn about and experience competitive smallbore rifle shooting.
Bow Hunter Education
The class covers bowhunting methods, the selection of equipment, bowhunting safety and ethics, and handling of game. Graduates will receive a certificate of complete from MassWildlife.
CPR & First Aid and Archery
In one session, campers will be certified in both CPR and First Aid training and will later spend time learning about and shooting archery. *Note: campers who choose to do Archery on the Saturday optional cannot do Archery on the Sunday optional.

Campers will learn about field dressing, discover cooking techniques for fish and game and sample some game food.

Fishing
This option will offer more in-depth points of trout fishing, using fly rods and spinning rods, at selected locations off camp property. *Note: campers who choose to do fishing on the Sunday optional cannot do it on the Saturday optional.

This option will offer more in-depth points of trout fishing, using fly rods and spinning rods, at selected locations off camp property. *Note: campers who choose to do fishing on the Saturday optional cannot choose to do fishing on the Sunday optional.
GPS/ Archery
In one session, campers will learn how to use a GPS. In the second session, campers will learn about and shoot archery. *Note: campers who choose to do archery on the Sunday optional cannot choose to do it for the Saturday optional.
Home Firearms Safety Class
This class provides the skills, knowledge and attitude to safely unload and store guns in the home. Students will have the opportunity to handle many different action types. Those who successfully pass this class will receive a Massachusetts State Police safety certificate and have an opportunity to fire the guns they learned about in class.
Sporting Clays and Scholastic Pistol
Campers will learn the basic fundamentals and safety of shooting clay targets, as well as the competitive nature of scholastic pistol shooting.
Turkey Hunting
This class will take you through preparing for a turkey hunt.
