Youth Rising K-1st - Week 1: Pond Explorers
Description
Step into the magical world of ponds, where little hands scoop, splash, and discover life beneath the surface. Through local nature trips, water sampling, and close-up looks at aquatic critters, campers explore these rich ecosystems through hands-on discovery. Campers will experiment with sink-or-float challenges, design and test simple boats, and explore water filtration using a variety of materials. Tactile investigations of different egg types introduce the life cycles of birds, reptiles, amphibians, and fish. Art and science blend as children create pond- and insect-inspired artwork, from dragonfly collages to textured pond scenes using natural materials. Along the way, campers learn how living things depend on one another and their environment to survive. From science to art to engineering play, Pond Week brings nature learning to life in a way that is both calming and exciting.
